Ulrika resides in Calistoga, California sharing a great life with the love of her life, Greg Brown and beautiful daughter Anjali. She teaches ongoing yoga classes, workshops and retreats in Marin, Napa and Sonoma counties and leads yoga journeys around the world.
After growing up in Sweden, in 1991 Ulrika decided to move to California to deepen her studies in Hatha Yoga. For two years she studied Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow Yoga at Yoga Works in Los Angeles under the guidance of Jane McMullen. To further her understanding of body, mind and spirit she moved to Northern California in the fall of 1993 to study somatic movement therapy and the expressive arts with Anna Halprin at Tamalpa Institute. During that time she lived and worked in a healing arts community integrating group process and community building with what she was learning at the institute.
After the two years at Tamalpa, Ulrika's teaching and practice of yoga transformed into a freeing of the body, mind and heart with an intention to uncover the inherent, authentic beauty and essence within each of us. In 1999 she first met John Friend and was introduced to Anusara Yoga. Everything about the Anusara practice felt true from the get go, celebrating the heart, looking for the good, lining up with the flow of nature and having a clear system of bio-mechanical alignment principles to support it.

Inspired by the power of her own transformation both from practicing the eight limbs of yoga and the two year group experience at Tamalpa Institute, Ulrika now leads week-long and weekend yoga-journeys. Her intention is to integrate in-depth study of yoga, alignment, strength, flexibility, clarity and self-study with unfolding and opening of the heart.
She's been teaching since 1991, full time since 1995. She currently teaches in Calistoga, at Yoga Studio Larkspur Landing and Yoga Community in Sonoma. Her main influence in alignment, attitude and action is her current teacher, John Friend, and Anusara Yoga.
She gives thanks to her teachers: Jane McMullen, John Friend, Kai Ganado, Anna Halprin, Daria Halprin, Jamie McHugh, Eric Schiffman, G. Hoffman Soto and Ken Otter. She also gives thanks to her students, friends and family who continually help her to grow.
